One of the questions I get asked the most is, "What is my hat size? How do I know?"
Instructions for measuring your head are on my FAQ page, but I thought I should include the information in a blog post as well so that you can easily find it, or in case someone is not shopping with me in particular, but still would like to know in order to shop on other sites.
The majority of my hat styles have adjustable sizing, with the range noted in the product description. To be sure that you fall within that range and that your hat will fit you comfortably, it is best to measure your head. Here's how:
Use a soft tape measure to measure your head circumference as shown in the photo #1. This is the most important measurement - the one known as your "hat size" - and the one noted in my hat descriptions. It will also be the one referenced when you shop on most other women's hats sites.
If your head circumference (photo #1) falls out of the standard range for your chosen style when shopping with me - either smaller or larger - then you may custom order your hat by choosing the "custom size" option and then including your head circumference, and the other three measurements illustrated above, in the "special instructions" section upon checkout. This will insure that your hat will be made to your specifications, and will fit you perfectly.
Note: if you do not have access to a soft tape measure, you can use something like a string or a ribbon, mark with ink or a straight pin, and then place it up against a flat ruler to see your measurements.
