The autumn days have been so lovely, with warm sun and crisp cool air.  My wardrobe is slowly transitioning into proper autumn attire - I add a sweater here, a layer there, boots instead of sandals.

These wide-leg trousers and lightweight patterned sweater are the perfect companions to my black wide-brimmed Ripple Effect hat.  The trousers, an Anthropologie buy from about 10 years ago, are a heavyweight cotton with a generous cuff and crisscross lacing at the back waist.  I've worn them to death and they are still going strong. The sweater is a Marc Jacobs beauty that I snagged at Century 21 in NYC on major clearance a few years back, and is a great mix of wool & cotton.  Also wearing my trusty All Saints boots.
I've done a couple of closet clear-outs recently, and it's always interesting to see what makes the cut and what I'm ready to let go of.  It's a pretty good bet that these two pieces will stay until they're worn through.
Friday Fun
Happy Friday!

It's been a very busy week, and I'll be working most of the weekend, but I thought we could all use a little fun diversion on a Friday afternoon.

I've recently become addicted to watching the old game show What's My Line on YouTube and have discovered that a couple of my fashion idols were mystery guests!

The first is Elsa Schiaparelli:

And the second is Madame Lily Dache.  My favorite part of this is that as soon as she beings writing her name on the chalkboard, the audience immediately recognizes her.  I can hardly imagine a hat designer being so famous now.

If you don't want to watch the entire program, Ms. Dache's segment begins at 2:20.

Have a great weekend!
new in the shop : City Limits in lavender & caramel

Next up in the shop updates is another City Limits, this time in a dusty lavender with tiny flecks of gold lurex, paired with a caramel & cream tweed.  The lavender wool has undertones of caramel in it, so these two fabrics pair together beautifully.

Available here.

new in the shop : City Limits in chocolate brown & multicolor pinstripe

Good morning!
I've added another version of my latest style, City Limits, to the shop.
This one is in a versatile chocolate brown wool that has multicolored, dotted & dashed pinstripes.
The fabric has a lovely sheen and is lightweight and crisp - perfect for heading into autumn.

Available here.

new in the shop : Plot Twist in iridescent violet neoprene
I've just added Plot Twist to the shop, in iridescent violet neoprene.
This is the hat I wear more than any other, and I always gets loads of compliments when I do.
It is a true three-season hat.  Lightweight & windproof, it manages to be warm in the winter but cool & comfortable in spring & fall.  It's a brimmed cloche that manages to be both elegant & sporty, can be rolled up & tucked into a pocket or purse, and it's great for travel too.

I make this style custom sized, so it fits snugly to the head and the lines remain sleek.

Available here.

Thanks for stopping by!
